DOUGLAS TAUREL (Actor/Playwright) recently portrayed Joe Petito in The Gabby Petito Story for Lifetime Movies opposite and under the direction of Thora Birch. On screen, other film credits include appearances in The Cobbler (starring Adam Sandler and Dustin Hoffman) and The Kindergarten Teacher (with Maggie Gyllenhaal), which premiered at Sundance and streaming on Netflix. His television work includes numerous television shows, and he can be heard as a featured voice actor in the popular video game Red Dead Redemption.
Taurel has appeared in numerous Off-Broadway productions at New York’s most respected venues - including Cherry Lane Theatre, 59E59 Theaters, Playwrights Horizons, Theatre for a New Audience to name a few.
As a writer, his play The American Soldier, a critically acclaimed solo show that has been nominated for the Amnesty International Award and has toured to over 34 cities across the United States. Highlights include three engagements at The Kennedy Center, performances at the Library of Congress, New York Federal Reserve and The Huffington Post called the play “flawless and powerful,” and it has been featuredin The Washington Post, The Washington Times, US Veterans Magazine, BroadwayWorld, Playbill, and many more.
The Library of Congress also commissioned him to create and write An American Soldier’s Journey Home, another one-man play commemorating the end of World War I and telling the story of the soldier Irving Greenwald of the famed Lost Battalion. Taurel also wrote, directed, and starred in the award-winning television series Landing Home, which earned Best Drama at the GI Film Festival and the Wings of Honor Festival, with Taurel receiving nominations for Best Actor and Best First-Time Director. The series is streaming on Amazon, Apple, Google Play, Tubi, Vudu, and Vimeo On Demand.
Born and raised in Houston to Colombian and Argentine parents, Taurel is fluent in Spanish and embraces both his Latin American and American heritage.
PADRAIC LILLIS (Director) is The Founding Artistic Director of The Farm Theater. The Farm Theater’s College Collaboration Project commissioned and developed Kimberly Belflower’s play, JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN, which was nominated for 7 Tony Awards and is currently in production as a feature film. For the past twenty-five years Padraic has been dedicated to the development of new plays. A few of the plays that he has worked on from inspiration to production are Lindsay Joy’s RISE AND FALL OF A TEENAGE CYBERQUEEN (NY IT Award Outstanding Director), Lee Kaplan’s award winning solo show BULLY (NY International Fringe Festival's Directing Award), and Adina Taubman’s award winning solo show THE ROAD BACK (Best Director United Solo Festival). His solo show, GET TO ELEVEN, on suicide ideation, was turned into a film and aired on PBS. Currently directing JOAN’S TEETH, a film written by Dipti Bramhandkar and featuring Kathleen Turner. Padraic was awarded the Humana Visiting Scholar and Artist in Residence at Centre College. He is a member of Labyrinth Theater Company and a life long Yankee fan.
PATRICIA DURAN (Additional Direction) is an actor, director, and teacher in Houston with twenty years of stage and voiceover experience. She has also worked regionally and in NYC. Duran was named by American Theatre Magazine as one of 20 Theatre Workers You Should Know and she was awarded Best Actress in 2019 and 2022 by The Houston Press. Duran has also voiced a wide variety of anime characters currently airing on HULU, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. ANDY EVAN COHEN (Sound & Projections Designer) is proud to have been working with Douglas on this production for over 10 years. Andy's recent work includes projections design for Murdoch: The Final Interview (Theater 555), Room 1214 (New Light Theater Project), and Fixing Frankie at the Gural theater. Sound design & music credits include Forbidden Broadway: Merrily We Stole A Song; The Greatest Hits Down Route 66 (New Light Theater Project, Drama Desk Nomination for Orchestrations); The Lights Are On (Henry Hewes Award Nomination for Sound Design); and (A)Loft Modulation (Audelco Awards Nomination for Sound Design). ANDREW PATASHNIK (Light Programmer) is a lighting designer, consultant, and technician for performance, corporate and fashion events, and more, primarily across the Metropolitan area. Most recent New York theater credits include lighting design for Sternfeld Studio’s notable immersive and site-specific Into the Woods. He has additional experience designing for amateur and educational theaters throughout the tri-state area. LAUREN MCAULIFFE (Stage Manager) is a New York-based theatre artist and technician with a specialty in new work development. Select recent credits include The Angel Makers at the Connelly Theatre (Production Stage Manager,) Egg Frame at the American Theatre of Actors (Artistic & Technical Director,) Lodestone at AMT (Production Stage Manager,) and The Beholden at the Chain Theatre (Director, Production Designer.) Lauren has contributed technical work for venues and events such as Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, New York Fashion Week, Masquerade, and DribbleUp Live, and holds a B.S. in TV-Video Production and Music from SUNY Plattsburgh. @laurmcauliffe
JOSH IACOVELLI (Scenic Designer) has over 25 years of experience in theatre and television. His roles span from production design, art direction and scenic design. From fabrication to ideation, Josh has spent his entire career making ideas into reality. Favorite design credits include: Broadway and The Bard starring Len Cariou, The Office a Musical Parody (dir Donald Garverick), Friends the Musical Parody (dir Paul Stancato), The Zero Hour (dir Piper Laurie), Fixing Frankie (dir Michael Blatt/Joe Langworth) Disaster the Musical (dir Jack Plotnick), and Bartenders starring Lou Mustillo. Other notable credits include long-running Off Broadway hits such as Danny and Sylvia, Dietrich and Chevalier starring Robert Cuccioli, Cougar the Musical, Sistas the Musical, It’s Just Sex, and Missed Connections. Josh is currently the resident scenic designer for Cape May Stage, where his latest design for Lets Catch Santa is currently running.
